I fell in love with the Shimmer Quilt Pattern by Cluck, Cluck, Sew! I just loved the layout, the many color options you could play with and also the cozy look of the finished design. I have had the Fibs & Fables Fabric Fat Quarter Bundle by, Anna Maria Horner on my shelf for months just waiting for the perfect quilt to create with it.
This is a magical fabric collection. The fabric represents different fairy tales and all created beautiful art.
The cutting process took some time. There were many different shapes and sizes needed. Once I finished this, I then laid out the stacks of fabric that would eventually become one complete block. I am grateful I did this front end work, as I know I would have lost my place and plan had I not.
I drew many center lines on the larger cream squares to be a guide for creating the triangles.
In the instructions, they recommended tape to act as a guide for the smaller triangles. What a lifesaver!
I completed one block first to make sure I understood the pattern instructions and that it turned out right and then I moved on to assembly-line sewing. This really help make the sewing go faster and the work more accurate. I got into the zone with a gripping detective podcast.
Stacks & stacks of blocks.
When the 20 blocks were finished, I squared them off and trimmed the excess fabric. This made a huge difference when I sewed them all together!
Quilt top finished and ready to baste!
I just love this binding!!
I quilted starburst patterns into the middle of each finished quilt block.
My daughter helped me with the finished quilt pictures. She was such a trooper trying to hold the quilt still during the windy weather! Here are the outtakes!
