I have a new pattern and I am so excited to share it with you! This pattern will give you step-by-step directions to make either a simple infinity scarf or an infinity scarf with a hidden pocket. So, you will receive two patterns in one!
The basic infinity scarf is super easy to make. I actually use this pattern in my beginner sewing class. It is one of my sewers favorite projects. The infinity scarf with a hidden pocket is an advanced beginner project and understanding how to sew zippers will be helpful.
I created this pattern after a client asked if I could design a travel scarf for her grandfather to wear while traveling to Europe. He wanted to be able to keep his valuables close at hand and also stay warm while traveling. We collaborated on fabric, design and function. It was an incredibly rewarding experience and led me to offer these scarves at both arts and crafts fairs and in my Etsy Shop.
When making the infinity scarf with a hidden pocket, I recommend using a slightly heavier woven fabric so that the items stored in the hidden pocket have a little extra support. Alison Glass Mariner Cloth fabric is just perfect for the exterior fabric and quilters weight cotton works great for the pocket lining.
For the basic infinity scarf, I recommend any weight of cotton, fleece, linen, rayon, etc. You can also easily add trim to this scarf to add a little something extra to finish it off. Here I used pom-pom trim with Liberty of London quilters cotton fabric.
This has been a fun pattern to create and I hope you enjoy it! If you have any questions, do not hesitate in sending me an email. I would love to hear from you!
